Michael is a Senior Lecturer at the Manchester Institute of Education at the University of Manchester. Michael has a particular interest in the measurement and assessment of child mental health and wellbeing. Recent projects have included leading a systematic review of social, emotional and health based measures (SPECTRUM) with accompanying guidance for schools and the completion of the largest ever trial of the FRIENDS programme, addressing worry and anxiety in schools. Michael is currently leading a review of social and emotional learning practices for the Educational Endowment Foundation. When left to his own devices, Michael likes to poison friends and family with ill-conceived home-brew recipes.
