Richard Byng works in Plymouth as a general practitioner at Adelaide Street Surgery and as a GPwSI in mental health in the Icebreak Team at The Zone in Plymouth. He has developed innovative community based services including the Rushey Green Time Bank and collaborative care for prison leavers, and individuals with dementia and psychosis. He is Professor in Primary Care Research at the University of Plymouth specialising in developing and evaluating care for individuals with complex health and social needs. He is currently supporting evaluation of the pilot sites for the National Community Mental Health transformation. He leads the Community and Primary Care Research Group and is Deputy Director of the South West Peninsula ARC.
