Aileen is Reader in Psychiatry and Education at St George's University of London where she is Dean for Students. She is a PICU Consultant and director of educational programmes for NAPICU (National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care and Low Secure units). She is joint Debates and Analysis editor for the BJP. Her academic interests are eclectic, including the history of psychiatry, ethics of the Mental Health Act, and engagement in psychosis.
