This review compared dental implant outcomes in smokers and non-smokers. 15 studies (5 prospective and 10 retrospective) were included which suggest that the odds of implant failure are higher in smokers . OR = 1.96 (95% CI; 1.68–2.30), as is the amount of marginal bone loss.

This review of root perforation repair included 17 studies that were mainly retrospective and small. The overall success rates for all materials was = 72.5% (CI; 61.9%–81.0%) with a suggestion of better rates for MTA. However, the quality of the evidence was low.

The update of a 2007 Cochrane review of parasympathomimetic drugs for dry mouth after radiotherapy did not identify an new studies. The 3 RCTs identified in the previous version provide limited evidence to support the use of pilocarpine hydrochloride in the treatment of radiation-induced xerostomia.

Ten studies including both in vivo and ex-vivo designs were included in this review of electronic apex locators. The authors found that precision varied with the device and type of irrigation but was not influenced by the status of the pulp tissue. However, the quality of the included studies was not high with only two being considered to be at low risk of bias.

This review of Tooth Mousse® (casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate) for caries prevention only identified 12 studies (8 RCTs). Many were of short duration and exhibited a great deal of heterogeneity; while there is some suggestion of benefit, the quality of the evidence is very low.
