Karen Birnie is a final year medical student at King’s College, London, having obtained a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. She has worked previously with the SLaM Biomedical Research Centre, using Natural Language Processing in studies of mental health. She is interested in social psychiatry and psychiatric epidemiology, particularly in underserved populations, and hopes to pursue a career in these fields. Karen is also involved in sex and relationships education projects throughout London, and initiatives promoting humanities in healthcare. Her other interests include painting, reading, and talking.
