Metastatic lesions in the oral and maxillofacial region

Patients with cancer and comorbid depression have worse anxiety, pain, fatigue, and functioning than do other patients with cancer.

This review of metastatic neoplasms in the oral cavity included 217 observational studies from 33 countries. The 348 cases identified arose from 29 primary sites the most common being lung (21%) and breast (12%).

9 studies were included in this review of fibre-reinforced composites fixed partial dentures. Only 3 of the included studies were prospective and were considered to be moderate quality. Good survival rates were seen at 4-5years.

40 studies were identified for this review of dental implants in irradiated patients. While survival rates were good, they were lower than in non-irradiated areas. As the majority of the included studies were retrospective the findings should be viewed cautiously.
