I am an experienced psychotherapist with expertise and national and international conference and workshop presentations in the field of personality disorder and complex trauma. I particularly seek to understand the psychological, social and biological influences that lead people to repeat cycles of harm and trauma. I have felt all my career that it is unjust that people who have been hurt and neglected in childhood have so little help and understanding when they repeat the cycles of harm that they have grown familiar with. I have worked with this group directly, delivered, designed and run services for them, supervised and trained staff in this area of work in child and family services, adult inpatient and outpatient mental health services in the NHS and charitable sector. I have also developed and led trauma work in inpatient forensic and prison services. I am undertaking doctoral research on women and the factors that influence their repeat experiences of harm from others.
