Ian Collings

Ian qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2000. He completed all of his training in the South Wales area and became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2005. He has worked as a Consultant in Swansea since 2012. Ian has worked in acute inpatient psychiatry, home treatment and rehabilitation and recovery. He has previously been the Core Training Programme Director for Swansea Training Scheme and the Wales Deanery Performance Lead for psychiatry. Between 2015 and 2017, he was the Head of School/Associate Dean for Psychiatry. As Head of School, Ian led in the development of a number of innovative educational initiatives including the MRCPsych exam preparation course, and advanced communications skills training. Since March 2017, Ian has been the interim Deputy Postgraduate Dean in the Wales Deanery. He has varied strategic responsibilities including QIST, Leadership Fellows, Professional Support and Workforce Development governance.
