Elvira Bolat
Dr Elvira Bolat is an Associate Professor in Digital Marketing at Bournemouth University, where her research focuses on ethical marketing, influencer culture, and gambling-related harms. Her work explores how digital marketing practices shape public health and consumer behaviour, particularly among children and young people. Elvira has led and contributed to several major projects funded by organisations such as GambleAware, YGAM, and the Bristol Hub for Gambling Harms Research, addressing issues including influencer-driven gambling content, corporate social responsibility in the gambling sector, and transparency in responsible gambling communication. Her research has informed policy consultations for the Gambling Commission, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), and UK Parliament inquiries into gambling-related harms. She is particularly passionate about translating academic findings into practical, accessible outputs, ranging from policy briefings and public exhibitions to creative storytelling projects such as the Hidden Stories of Online Gamblers art exhibition and short documentary. Elvira’s wider research interests span digital ethics, social influence, and responsible innovation in marketing.
