Orthodontic force and dental pulp changes

This review of the clinical and radiographic findings of orthodontic force application on the dental pulp included 26 studies. While increase in pulpal sensibility clinical response, an immediate decrease in pulpal blood flow, changes in pulp cavity volume, and an increase in the incidence of pulp stone formation the studies were mostly small and of low quality so the certainty of the available evidence is graded as very low.

Pulp necrosis: Is it induced by orthodontic tooth movement?

This review evaluating the evidence to support the possibility that orthodontic tooth movements could induce pulp necrosis included 12 studies. While the findings indicate there is evidence that these treatments do not induce pulp necrosis it has low to very low quality.

Orthodontic forces: insufficient evidence of their effect on the dental pulp

This review of the effect of orthodontic forces on the dental pulp identified only a limited number of small studies none of which were of high quality. Consequently there is insufficient scientific evidence of the effect of orthodontic forces on the dental pulp.
