Sarah is an Associate Professor at Bristol Medical School, University of Bristol. Her research interests are primarily around early prediction of mental problems such as psychosis, bipolar disorder, dementia and eating disorders using primary care electronic medical records and sociodemographic data. She is also interested in the role of female sex hormones (oestrogen and progesterone) in risk of mental illness, particularly psychosis, and in the small increase of first episode psychosis in older women.
