Melisa is the Director of Care at Silvacare Homes in Hertfordshire. She was previously a Registered Manager for two residential care homes within Silvacare Homes (2012-2018), supporting adults with learning disabilities (LD), autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and mental health conditions. In November 2017, her team won ‘The Learning Disability Innovation Award’ at the annual Hertfordshire Care Awards. She is a member of the ‘Rethink Mental Illness’ Information panel and was previously Co-chair of the Hertfordshire Branch of The National Autistic Society. She is a qualified trainer and is currently utilising this qualification to deliver trainings in ASD and mental health conditions to local residential care homes and organisations. She gained a BSc (Hons) Psychology (2:1), at The University of Surrey (2008-2012), which included a Professional training year during 2011, with a CAMHS- Hope Service (Guildford, Surrey). She is currently studying for an MSc Mental Health Studies at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience, King’s College London (2018-2019); which includes a 6- month clinical placement at Lambeth Hospital, South London and Maudsley Trust.
