Fionnuala is a PhD student at Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC). With a background in cognitive neuropsychology and classical music, she has a keen interest in the application of music-based interventions to benefit cognition, motor abilities and underlying brain structure in healthy and clinical populations. Her PhD applies diffusion-weighted MRI with ultra-strong gradients to examine training-induced microstructural changes in grey and white matter and potential links with cognitive and motor improvements in healthy ageing.
