Catherine Needham is Professor of Public Policy and Public Management at the Health Services Management Centre, University of Birmingham. She is Associate Director of the NIHR School for Social Care Research. Her research focuses on two main areas: (1) social care (including personalisation, co-production, personal budgets, older people, care workforce, care markets) (2) the public service workforce (roles, skills and values) and what it means to be a 21st Century Public Servant and elected councillor She has published a wide range of articles, chapters and books for academic and practitioner audiences.  Her most recent book was published by Springer in 2018 and entitled Reimagining the Public Service Workforce.
