White spot lesions – treatment options

This review and network meta-analysis of seven treatments for white spot lesions (WSLs) included 36 clinical RCTs published since 2007. The findings suggest that self-assembling peptide P11-4 and resin infiltration had a positive effect on WSLs but the findings should be interpreted cautiously.

This review evaluating the effectiveness of desensitising toothpastes included 53 RCTs. Most agents with the exception of those containing strontium or amorphous calcium phosphate were effective in relieving dentine hypersensitivity compared with negative controls.

Tooth Mousse® for caries prevention – little evidence available

This review of Tooth Mousse® (casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate) for caries prevention only identified 12 studies (8 RCTs). Many were of short duration and exhibited a great deal of heterogeneity; while there is some suggestion of benefit, the quality of the evidence is very low.
